A grand parade in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China will be held in Sha Tin September 20 from 10am.
It will feature more than 600 performers and traditional floats.
Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing will officiate at the opening ceremony at Sha Tin Sports Ground. East Asian Game mascots Dony and Ami will be on hand.
After the ceremony the performers will set off from Sha Tin Sports Ground and parade along Yuen Wo Road to Sha Tin Town Hall Plaza.
To enable more people to enjoy the show the parade teams will stop at three locations - Sha Tin Sports Ground, the area outside the Sha Tin Jockey Club Swimming Pool and Sha Tin Town Hall Plaza.
Tickets to view the parade at Sha Tin Sports Ground will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis tomorrow from 9am to 7pm at the Sha Tin District Office Public Enquiry Service Centre, G/F Sha Tin Government Offices, 1 Sheung Wo Che Road, Sha Tin. Each person is allowed a maximum of four tickets.
Special traffic arrangements will be implemented from 9.45am to 12.30pm September 20. The westbound lanes of Yuen Wo Road between Fo Tan Road and Wang Pok Street will be closed while the road junction of Yuen Wo Road and Sha Tin Rural Committee Road will be closed intermittently.
