A female Thalassaemia patient who died in Princess Margaret Hospital has been confirmed to have human swine flu.
The Hospital Authority has reported the case to the Centre for Health Protection and referred it to the Coroner.
The 73-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital yesterday with septic shock and flu symptoms. As her condition deteriorated she was transferred to the intensive care unit and given Tamiflu. She died at 9.20pm last night.
The hospital's microbiology lab confirmed today she had human swine flu virus.
There were 375 new cases of human swine flu today, involving 205 males and 170 females, aged four months and 87 years old, bringing the tally to 13,693.
