Guangdong students arrive for cultural exchange
*

A 60-member Guangdong post-secondary student delegation arrived in Hong Kong today for a three-day visit to share experiences with local young people.

They will visit the Museum of History, monuments and environmental facilities, and attend seminars to experience the local lifestyle's blend of Chinese and Western culture.

They and 60 Hong Kong students will then visit Macau on July 14 and 15 to meet the enclave's university students for cultural exchange.

The Hong Kong delegation will then visit Guangdong cities Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhongshan and Kaiping from July 15 to 20.

Under Secretary for Home Affairs Florence Hui said the exchange tour can help enhance understanding and friendship among youths from the three places.

"It provides the young people with a good opportunity to learn about the differences in culture and lifestyle of the three places and broaden their horizons. The activity will also enable the youth in Hong Kong to foster a deep understanding of the culture of our nation."

Co-organised by the Home Affairs Bureau, Guangdong Department of Culture and Macau Tertiary Education Services Office, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Youth Cultural Exchange Tour is one of the city's celebratory activities to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
