Mislabelled health products recalled

Department of Health

The Department of Health is investigating a case in which the volume of two batches of water for injections supplied to the Hospital Authority did not match that stated on their labels. The wholesaler has initiated a recall.

An initial probe found each bottle of the product should have contained 100ml, but the actual volume found in the two batches ranged from 120ml to 130ml.

The batch numbers 38L70 and 38L71C were produced by Japanese company Otsuka's Indonesian subsidiary. The 111,160 bottles in question were imported by licensed drug wholesaler Luen Cheong Hong in two confinements in December and January.

A total of 92,820 bottles were supplied to the authority while the wholesaler is keeping the remainder. The department inspected the wholesaler's office today and collected samples for tests.
