Egg samples pass safety checks

Centre for Food Safety

The Centre for Food Safety has tested 32 eggs after receiving complaints alleging some eggs bought recently were fake. All were found to be genuine.

The tests checked the major components of chicken eggs, including DNA, fatty acids, protein and egg white protein. Possible adulterants such as artificial colours were also tested.

The centre will continue checks for fake eggs.
