Latest info on H5N1 available online
*

Health advice on avian flu H5N1 can now be obtained on the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department's website. The websites of the Centre for Health Protection and the Food & Environmental Hygiene Department also offer information on the virus.

Information includes the species of birds infected with H5N1, safety guidelines for handling and disposing of dead wild birds, health advice and the latest Government press releases. The latest details of the infected species, submission dates for laboratory tests, locations where carcasses are found and a distribution map will be updated regularly.

As of yesterday 28 dead birds have been collected in western areas of Hong Kong since late January. People should heighten their vigilance against avian flu and avoid contact with live or dead poultry and birds.
