The Centre for Health Protection was notified today by the Ministry for Health that a Guangxi teenager has died of avian influenza H5N1.

The 18-year-old man, who lived in Beiliu, developed symptoms January 19 and died today. He had contact with dead and sick poultry before the onset of symptoms.

The centre is garnering more information from Mainland authorities.
