The Ministry of Health notified the Centre for Health Protection today of a confirmed human case of H5N1 involving a 19-year-old Beijing woman.

She came down with avian flu symptoms December 24 and died January 5. She had contact with poultry before the onset of symptoms.

The centre is liaising with the ministry for more information on the case.
