Probe launched into hospital death

*

Secretary for Food & Health Dr York Chow has ordered the Hospital Authority to investigate the death of a man who collapsed outside Caritas Medical Centre.

Dr Chow today expressed concern about yesterday's incident and offered his condolences to the man's family.

"I have instructed the Hospital Authority to review the incident, including the handling procedures and guidelines for [people] seeking assistance by hospitals as well as emergency equipment and training, and to submit its report and recommendations to the Food & Health Bureau," Dr Chow said.

The hospital's chief executive Dr Ma Hok-cheung said he will submit a report on the incident to the authority in one week. Improvement measures will be recommended for better handling of similar incidents in future, he said.
