Health warning: Consumers are urged to avoid taking K Tighten Slim, K Carbohydrate and K Slimming Pills which can cause side effects.

*

The Department of Health today urged people to stop using three brands of slimming products which contain undeclared drug ingredients and analogues which can cause serious side effects.

The products are K Carbohydrate, K Tighten Slim and K Slimming Pills.

K Carbohydrate showed the presence of sibutramine and its analogues while the other products had sibutramine analogues.

The samples were found in a Kwai Chung beauty parlour. The supplier has been instructed to recall the products.

Sibutramine is used as an appetite suppressant for slimming under close medical supervision. Side effects include increased blood pressure and heart rate, psychosis and convulsions. People with heart problems should not take it.
