November ovitrap index falls to 1.9%
*
Food & Environmental Hygiene Department

The monthly average ovitrap index for November fell to 1.9% from 7.3% in October, the Food & Environmental Hygiene Department says.

Of the 38 areas surveyed 19 recorded positive ovitrap indices ranging from 1.7% to 8.9%, with the highest in Cheung Sha Wan.

The index for port areas also fell to zero from 0.1%.

Despite the fall, the department urged people to continue preventive measures, as Dengue cases are still prevalent in neighbouring places.

Travellers are strongly advised to take precautions when visiting areas affected by mosquito-borne diseases during the Christmas and New Year holidays, and to seek medical advice quickly if they have symptoms like fever, severe headache or muscle and joint pain.
