Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing has congratulated Hong Kong badminton player Wang Chen for winning the Yonex-Sunrise Hong Kong Open Badminton Super Series 2008 women's singles title - the first time a Hong Kong player has won the competition.

"Wang Chen has fully demonstrated perseverance and sportsmanship in the competition," Mr Tsang said after watching the event.

Wang snatched the title by beating China's Xie Xingfang 21:16, 10:21, 21:10.
