Mainland boy ill with enteroviral infection

Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed an Enterovirus-71 infection case involving a two-year-old Mainland boy. He is stable at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

 

He came down with a rash on his hands November 11 and sought treatment at a Shenzhen hospital. He came to Hong Kong November 15 and was hospitalised the same day.

 

There have been 95 EV71 cases so far this year, 12 last year, 35 in 2004, eight in 2005 and 16 in 2006. Click here for health tips or call the Central Health Education hotline 2833 0111.
