Ovitrap index falls to 7.3%

*
Food & Environmental Hygiene Department

Although the monthly average ovitrap index for October fell to 7.3% from 9.8% in September, the Food & Environmental Hygiene Department urges people to continue measures against mosquito breeding.

Of the 38 areas surveyed, positive ovitrap indices ranging from 1.9% to 18.2% were recorded in 36 areas, with the highest in Tai Wai. The index for port areas fell from 0.2% to 0.1%.

The department said preventive measures should not be relaxed as Dengue cases are still prevalent in areas around Hong Kong.

More details on the ovitrap indices and anti-mosquito measures can be found here. For information on Dengue fever, click here or call 2833 0111.
