Man ill with puffer fish poisoning

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a puffer fish poisoning case.

A 61-year-old man fell ill after eating the fish he caught in local waters yesterday. He sought treatment at Tseung Kwan O Hospital and is now stable.

Puffer fish contains tetrodotoxin, a heat-stable toxin which does not decompose with boiling or cooking.
