The Centre for Health Protection today confirmed two cases of renal problems involving an eight-year-old girl and a toddler who had consumed melamine tainted milk products.

There have been 10 such cases.

The eight-year-old girl living in Tuen Mun has been drinking contaminated milk products regularly bought from the Mainland in the past three years. A 4.5mm renal stone was found in her right kidney.

The 22-month-old boy living in Tseung Kwan O passed some bloody urine in August 2008. On October 9, his mother found a blood-stained object about the size of a grain of rice in his diaper, likely to be a renal stone.

A follow-up ultrasound exam did not find any stone in his kidney. He is in stable condition.
