Financial aid set for Tai O residents
*

The Islands District Office is assessing the situation of 600 Tai O families affected by recent heavy flooding and will provide financial assistance to those in need. Other affected residents in financial difficulty can apply to the office for emergency relief.

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department has strengthened its clean-up operations with 80 tonnes of garbage removed today. Three pest control teams comprising 15 staff have been sent to the area. Electricians have restored power to affected households.

The Housing Department is scrutinising requests for extended stays for affected residents in temporary accommodation at Lung Tin Estate. Five families remain in the estate.

The office will continue to monitor the situation and help residents.
