Public-Private Partnership in Healthcare Achieves Good Progress
Fruitful results: Permanent Secretary for Food & Health (Health) Sandra Lee and Hospital Authority chairman Anthony Wu celebrate the success of the Public-Private Partnership programmes.

The Hospital Authority's Public-Private Partnership programmes have proven successful, enhancing the quality of general-outpatient clinic and eye services and cutting waiting times.

The Cataract Surgeries Programme and Tin Shui Wai Primary Care Partnership Programme were launched in February and June. Seventy-five private ophthalmologists and 2,247 patients have enrolled in the cataract programme, and 1,332 patients have received surgery and regained their sight.

More than 539 patients and six private doctors in Tin Shui Wai have enrolled in the primary care partnership programme.

Permanent Secretary for Food & Health (Health) Sandra Lee said the Government will study further extending collaboration with the private sector after reviewing the outcome of the pilot partnership programmes.

Authority chairman Anthony Wu backed public-private partnership saying positive feedback has been received from the programmes' participants.
