A five-year-old girl is fighting for her life after coming down with a fever on September 11, the Centre for Health Protection says.

She was admitted to a private hospital on September 15 and transferred to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital two days later with convulsions. She is now in intensive care in critical condition. Laboratory tests are underway.

She has not travelled and her family members have no similar symptoms. The kindergarten she attended has not reported any outbreak of influenza-like illness.
