Caution issued on Yili dairy products
*

The Centre for Food Safety today warned the public not to consume dairy products from Mainland brand Yili as eight samples of its goods were found to contain melamine.

The centre's controller Dr Constance Chan has asked importers to recall all Yili dairy products. She said Yili's one-litre pack of high-calcium, low-fat milk would not be suitable for consumption by young children.

"The level of melamine would be over the recommended daily consumption level if one drinks two glasses of the product every day," Dr Chan said.

The centre will expand testing to cover milk powder for infants, although Dr Chan said she was told by importers all infant milk powder in Hong Kong contains no ingredients from the Mainland.

More test results are pending.
