Vintage Kowloon Park tree removed
*
Leisure & Cultural Services Department

The Leisure & Cultural Services Department has removed an unstable lebbeck tree in Kowloon Park which posed a danger to the public.

The leaning tree's base showed signs of movement and the trunk could no longer support its load. Experts said the tree had no chance of recovery.

It was listed as number YTM/71 on the Register of Old & Valuable Trees and was situated next to the north-south main path running through Kowloon Park.

The department has inspected 123 big trees on the register and nearly 22,500 other trees under its management since August 27.

It has so far removed two trees from the register - the lebbeck tree and a coral tree in San Po Kong.
