The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed five Dengue fever cases, involving two men and three women aged 17 to 49.
A 41-year-old man visited Thailand July 28 to August 4 and came down with symptoms upon his return. He was admitted to Tseung Kwan O Hospital on August 11 and discharged three days later.
A 28-year-old woman visited the Maldives, Sri Lanka and Thailand July 28 to August 7 and came down with symptoms on August 10. She was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital on August 16 and is stable.
A 17-year-old man travelled to Thailand July 27 to August 10 and came down with symptoms on August 15. He sought treatment from private doctors and no hospitalisation was required.
Another case involved a 38-year-old woman who travelled to Bangladesh July 23 to August 3, while the last involved a 49-year-old woman who went to the Philippines July 13 to August 10. The former was discharged on August 18, while the latter is in stable condition.
Twenty-six imported Dengue fever cases have been reported so far this year. Fifty-eight were reported in 2007 - all imported. For prevention tips click here.
