The Centre for Food Safety warns consumers to avoid several batches of Bovril Beef Extract suspected to be contaminated with salmonella.

The affected products come in 250g glass jars with codes L8201XX795, L8206XX795, L8207XX795 and L8208XX795, and 600g plastic tubs coded L8207XX795. Their expiry date is January 2010.

Unilever UK is recalling the products. The centre has alerted the trade and is monitoring the situation.
