Centre for Health Protection

The Coroner's Court will investigate the death of a nine-year-old girl. She was admitted to Prince of Wales Hospital yesterday and died at 2am today, the Centre for Health Protection says.

She came down with fever, vomiting and heart inflammation and was hospitalised at 11pm for intensive care. She had no recent travel history.

Meanwhile, the centre has received another report today of a seven-year-old girl who is in serious condition in the same hospital's paediatric intensive care unit.

She was admitted August 8 with fever and convulsions and later developed encephalitis symptoms. She has tested negative for influenza and enterovirus. She has not travelled recently and her relatives have no similar symptoms.
