The Home Affairs Bureau has congratulated young Hong Kong pianist Aristo Sham on winning first prize in the 4th National Juvenile Piano Contest in Xiamen City on July 21.

Aristo, a primary six student and a junior student at the Academy for Performing Arts with a double major in piano composition and computer music technology, beat 33 top young pianists from around the world.

This is the second time in a month that Sham has won first prize in international piano competitions. He came tops in the Gina Bachauer International Junior Piano Competition in Salt Lake City, Utah, last month.

The 4th National Juvenile Piano Contest has been held biennially since 2002. It invites the finest national young pianists for music exchange, promotes the piano art and assists the development of young pianists.
