A 56-year-old Sha Tin woman is recovering after being treated for flesh-eating disease necrotising fasciitis, the Centre for Health Protection says.
Redness and swelling appeared on her injured thumb on July 13 and she was admitted to Prince of Wales Hospital July 16. She underwent surgery July 21 is now in stable condition.
Patients should seek medical advice promptly if symptoms of infection like increasing redness, pain and swelling are found.
