Olympic preparation: Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs Carrie Yau meets Hong Kong ambassadors at hospitality desks during her airport inspection. |
Hong Kong International Airport is ready to receive thousands of athletes and officials for the Olympic and Paralympic Games with hospitality desks set up and contingency plans mapped out and tested, Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs Carrie Yau says.
During her visit to the airport today Mrs Yau inspected its hospitality and security arrangements for the equestrian events, including the Integrated Airport Centre, Airport Emergency Centre, Apron Passenger Vehicle Lounge and the hospitality desks.
Mrs Yau said athletes and their horses, foreign spectators and visitors will arrive in Hong Kong safely and comfortably.
"We are impressed by the detailed planning on the hospitality arrangements of the highest possible standard and the sensitive handling arrangements for the horses," she said.
She added the Government will conduct regular inspections on transport, security, crowd control, quarantine and volunteer training before the Olympics to ensure every aspect is ready for the Games.
