The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed three cases of Enterovirus-71 infection involving three boys aged between one and 15, bringing the year's total to 73.
A one-year-old boy developed fever, oral ulcers and rash on his hands and feet on July 2. He attended the Caritas Medical Centre's Accident & Emergency Department and was later transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital July 4. He was discharged July 7.
A three-year-old boy developed oral ulcers and rashes on his hands and feet on July 2. He sought medical treatment from a private doctor and no hospitalisation was required. Four children at the nursery he attended also had symptoms of hand, foot and mouth disease. All had received medical treatment without hospitalisation.
A 15-year-old boy came down with with fever, oral ulcers and rash on his hands and feet on July 3. He was admitted to the Baptist Hospital on July 6 and is now in stable condition.
