*
Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed a case of Enterovirus-71 infection involving a 10-month-old Shenzhen girl, bringing the year's total to 56.

She developed fever, oral ulcers and a rash on June 16. She came to Hong Kong to seek medical treatment at Prince of Wales Hospital on June 21, and was transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital. She was discharged June 23 and re-admitted the following day for vomiting and diarrhoea. She is now stable.

There were 12 and 16 EV-71 infection cases in 2007 and 2006.
