More help sent to Tai O
*

More Government staff will be sent to Tai O to help residents as inclement weather has been forecast for the coming days.

Sixty Civil Aid Service staff will be stationed there to provide round-the-clock services.

Islands District Officer Byron Lam told the media today water supplies have resumed in Tai O. Repairs for some remote areas like Tai Long Wan are continuing.

Water tanks have been placed in Upper Keung Shan, Sha Lo Wan and Lower Keung Shan. Thirty food packs have been dispatched to Sha Lo Wan and Sham Shek Village.

The Geotechnical Engineering Office has inspected another 25 slopes and recommended temporary evacuation of 22 village houses and permanent evacuation of seven squatter huts, affecting 20 people from 10 households.

While repairs to Keung Shan Road are underway, the section of Tai O Road from Ngong Ping Village to Tai O Pier has been cleared and will be fully reopened this weekend.
