Dengue fever case confirmed
*
Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection today confirmed the year's 12th imported Dengue fever case involving a 39-year-old man who travelled to the Maldives April 5 to 13. He was admitted to St Teresa's Hospital on April 28 and has been discharged.

He came down with a fever, sore throat, joint pain and a rash on April 22. His four travel companions also had similar symptoms. Of them, a 30-year-old man was confirmed to have Dengue fever on April 30.

There were 58 imported Dengue fever cases last year. People should take measures to stop mosquito breeding. Travellers should also take preventive measures against the disease and consult doctors quickly if they feel unwell after returning from a trip.
