Four universities will provide more than 700 study places for seniors, Elderly Commission Chairman Dr CH Leong says.

Visiting Ming Yue Elder Academy today Dr Leong said the commission has been liaising with tertiary institutions to further extend the concept of elder academies.

The four colleges which will provide places for elderly learners are the Chinese, City, Shue Yan and Lingnan Universities.

Dr Leong said the commission also planned to establish more elder academies in primary and secondary schools by encouraging more schools and non-government organisations to join the Pilot Elder Learning Scheme.

He hopes more elder academies will start operating in the coming academic year.
