The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed two cases of Enterovirus-71 infection involving a one-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy, bringing the year's total to 12.
The girl, who lived with her parents on the Mainland and arrived in Hong Kong April 25, developed a fever and rash on April 27. She was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital on May 1 and discharged yesterday.
The boy travelled to the Mainland April 23 to 27 and came down with fever, cough and a runny nose on April 28 and had blisters on his mouth on April 30. He was admitted to a private hospital May 1 and discharged today.
There were eight, 16 and 12 cases of EV-71 infections reported in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
