The EatSmart@school.hk campaign will continue in the coming education year with applications for the next round of training under the NutriAgent Project in July opening in June, the Department of Health says.
The campaign boosts the promotion of healthy eating in schools. Through the NutriAgent Project the department helps teachers and parents build their confidence and competence in formulating policies and programmes.
About 305 people from 266 schools, including 168 primary school principals, joined a summit today to discuss the strategy for promoting healthy eating among students. The summit was one of the campaign's events.
Assistant Director of Health Dr Regina Ching said principals play a key role in promoting healthy eating. The department encourages schools to show their commitment and pledge to create a healthy eating culture and environment in schools by establishing corresponding policies and formulate their directions, actions and working principles.
She called on schools to incorporate the healthy eating message in both curriculum and extra-curricular activities to raise education effectiveness.
