Elsie Leung has been appointed deputy mayor of the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic village, the Equestrian Committee says.
Ms Leung will be responsible for the management, operation and services of the Hong Kong village, and ensure the games' demands can be met.
The operational plan for the village, including its layout and services, security arrangements and room allocation proposals, has been approved by the International Olympic Committee and Beijing Organising Committee. A detailed plan for all village services will be finalised this month.
Chief Secretary Henry Tang said Ms Leung has been dedicated to serving the community and is the best choice to take charge of the Hong Kong village.
As the President of the Equestrian Committee, Mr Tang added he looks forward to working together with Ms Leung to ensure the Equestrian Events will be successfully held and meet the nation's expectation.
Ms Leung has resigned from the post of Chairman of the Equestrian Fund's Board of Governors. Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing will be the acting chairman.
