The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed the year's eighth imported Dengue fever case involving a 37-year-old man who visited Singapore and the Philippines March 14 to 24.

He came down with fever, headache and joint pain on March 29. He sought medical treatment on March 31 and April 1 and has recovered.

Hong Kong recorded 58 Dengue fever cases last year, all imported.

People should stay alert to the threat of Dengue fever and take measures against mosquito breeding. Travellers should wear long-sleeved tops and trousers, use insect repellent and mosquito screens or nets.

People feeling unwell after returning from their trip should consult a doctor as soon as possible and provide details of their travel to the doctor.
