1 flu-related complication reported

Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection has received one new report of a child being admitted to hospital with suspected influenza-related complications, bringing the total so far to 24.

 

The case involves a two-month-old baby boy. He was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital on March 21 and is now in serious condition.

 

The number of cases with laboratory evidence of flu infection is six. All patients have been discharged.

 

For the remaining 18 cases, preliminary tests on 17 patients returned negative flu results. Results are pending in the remaining case.
