Flora euphoria: Miss Hong Kong 2007 Cheung Ka-yi, Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs Carrie Yau, Chief Executive Donald Tsang's wife Selina and Director of Leisure & Cultural Services Thomas Chow open the 2008 Hong Kong Flower Show.

The 2008 Hong Kong Flower Show has opened at Victoria Park sporting an Olympic atmosphere. More than 200 organisations are taking part with about 350,000 flowers on display.

A grand floral display, Vibrant Blossoms for the Beijing Olympics, highlights the show with floral sculptures of the logos for the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games and the five games mascots. Newly unveiled East Asian Games mascots Dony and Ami met the public at the show. Other displays also feature games themes.

Officiating at today's opening ceremony Director of Leisure & Cultural Services Thomas Chow called on the public to support the Hong Kong leg of the Olympic Torch Relay on May 2.

Tickets are available at the show entrance, District Leisure Services Offices, and venues with Leisure Link services. Admission for adults is $14. Children, students, the disabled, and senior citizens aged 60 or over get half-priced concessions.
