The Community Investment & Inclusion Fund has approved 29 projects at a cost of over $43 million. This is the largest number of projects the fund has selected and the highest level of funding it has allocated in any single batch.
The fund's committee chairman Yeung Ka-sing today estimated 12,000 people and their families will benefit from the projects. Ranging from after-school care to neighbourhood building and cross-generational programmes, the projects will further strengthen the social bonding of people and families and contribute to the well-being of our society, he said.
Fourteen projects target Tin Shui Wai. Together with three other projects they cover 80% of the district's housing estates.
A task force will be formed to co-ordinate the projects' implementation. The committee will also organise briefing sessions and training workshops for the new project teams and their collaborators.
Some potential flagship projects with new and strong partners are also being developed in other districts. They include neighbourhood-building projects involving the Housing Society, and community care projects to be conducted in collaboration with the United Christian and Princess Margaret Hospitals.
The fund is inviting the next batch of applications. The closing date is May 30. For more details click here.
