Doctors' professional conduct urged

Dr York Chow speaks on doctors' professional conduct
Do no harm: Secretary for Food & Health Dr York Chow says doctors must fulfil their professional responsibility.
*

Doctors in beauty companies must fulfil their professional responsibility and comply with the code of practice, irrespective of what the relation is between the two parties, Secretary for Food & Health Dr York Chow says.

He told reporters today when prescribing drugs in any circumstances, doctors, including those working for beauty companies, must adhere to their code of practice and professional standard.

Dr Chow said the Department of Health inspects clinics and beauty companies to ensure there are no banned or unregistered drugs, adding doctors have to be held responsible if such drugs are stored or prescribed.

On the seizure of a large quantity of a dark green colour capsule labeled as "Apisate" - which was found containing fenfluramine, a banned substance - from a clinic inside a slimming institute on Thursday, Dr Chow said the department made the seizure when conducting inspections for dangerous drugs and will probe the case.
