New misdeeds added to estate marking scheme
*
Housing Authority & Housing Department

Two new misdeeds - "illegal gambling in public places" and "using leased premises for illegal purpose" - will be included in the marking scheme for estate management in public housing estates from January 1.

Upon conviction under the Gambling Ordinance, concerned households will be allotted five points without warning. Tenants found using leased premises for illegal purposes will be allotted seven points.

The Housing Authority said the move will strengthen the Housing Department's tenancy management action.

Under the marking scheme, when 16 points have been allotted to a household within two years the tenancy will be terminated.

Since the introduction of the scheme 7,089 points-allotted cases involving 6,750 households have accumulated, with 262 households or 3.9% accruing 10 points or more due to commitment of two or more misdeeds.
