The Centre for Health Protection is investigating the poisoning of a 52-year-old seaman who ate a puffer fish.

He developed dizziness, numbness of limbs and abdominal pain after consuming the fish December 13 and was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital. His condition is stable.

Puffer fish contains tetrodotoxin, a toxin unaffected by boiling or cooking. People should not consume puffer fish.
