There were 289,076 social-security assistance cases with 499,183 recipients in November, down 0.5% over October, the Social Welfare Department says.

The number of jobless receiving comprehensive social-security assistance fell 2.2%, to 33,406 cases, while low-earnings groups fell 0.7%, to 17,377 cases, and single-parent groups fell 0.9%, to 37,266 cases.
