The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed the year's 10th leptospirosis case involving a 41-year-old Tuen Mun man who died November 25.
He fainted November 4 and was admitted to Tuen Mun Hospital. He died three weeks later and tested positive for leptospirosis.
He had no travel history during the incubation period. The cause of his death is being investigated.
Hong Kong saw two imported and one unclassified leptospirosis cases last year. In 2005 there were three imported and four local cases reported. More details on leptospirosis can be found here.
