sand sculpture contest
Beach art: The Sai Kung Sand Sculpture Competition 2007 will be held at Clear Water Bay Second Beach.

Thirty-seven teams will showcase their creativity and skills in the Sai Kung Sand Sculpture Competition 2007 on December 2.

The Leisure & Cultural Services Department contest will be held at Clear Water Bay Second Beach from 10am to 2pm.

Each team can decide the theme of its sculptures and must finish its work within one hour and 45 minutes. Participants can create their sculptures with spades, buckets and ornaments like shells and aluminium cans that will not harm the environment.

The competition will be divided into youth, family, disabled and open divisions. Prizes will be awarded to the winner, first runner-up and second runner-up of each division.

All teams will also vie for the overall championship. Judging will be based on skills, creativity, relevance to themes and aesthetics.

People can enter the sculptors' working area to take pictures after adjudication. A fun fair with performances will also be held at the beach.
