CE tours Equestrian Pavilion

Olympic overview: Chief Executive Donald Tsang inspects a model of Hong Kong's Olympic facilities during his visit to the Equestrian Pavilion in Sha Tin.

Chief Executive Donald Tsang visited Sha Tin today touring the Equestrian Pavilion, the Salvation Army Family Store in Jat Min Chuen and Sha Tin Park.

At the Equestrian Pavilion in Penfold Park, opened by the Hong Kong Jockey Club early this month, Mr Tsang saw multimedia facilities, venue models and a walk-in theatre introducing Olympic equestrian events.

Various groups and schools from across Hong Kong will visit the facility, which Mr Tsang said will enrich their knowledge of equestrian events and the Olympic spirit.

He then visited the Salvation Army Family Store, the first social enterprise in Sha Tin. Formed by the Salvation Army's Hang On Integrated Vocational Rehabilitation Service in 2004, it sells donated clothes and goods at special prices and provides retail training to special school students and the disabled.

Mr Tsang said he was impressed by the store's work in helping the disadvantaged become self-reliant and reintegrate into society, adding the social enterprise summit in December will set a clearer framework for further development in this field.

Mr Tsang then met locals at the Sky Platform in Sha Tin Park to discuss the district's development and community facilities.
