Girl treated for intestinal infection

*
Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed the year's first E-coli O157:H7 infection involving a one-year-old Yuen Long girl.

She travelled to the Mainland October 26 to November 14 and came down with diahrroea and vomiting on November 13. She was sent to Tuen Mun Hospital the next day and discharged a day later.

The centre is following up on her family members' conditions and have provided them with health advice.

There was one E-coli O157:H7 case last year and no case in 2005 and 2004. More details on the disease and its prevention can be found here.
