Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs Carrie Yau has arrived in Wuhan to cheer on Hong Kong's athletes in the 6th National Cities Games.
Hong Kong has 107 athletes competing in 15 events and has so far won a gold medal in cycling.
"The 6th National Cities Games is a timely opportunity for our young athletes to exchange skills with athletes from different Mainland cities before the Beijing Olympics," Mrs Yau said.
Accompanied by Deputy Director of Leisure & Cultural Services Vincent Liu, Mrs Yau visited fencing team members today. She will attend the table tennis competition tomorrow and the opening ceremony at the Wuhan Sports Centre in the evening.
The games are held every four years to promote sports development in cities across the Mainland to identify young sports talent for national teams.
