The Centre for Health Protection has confirmed the year's eighth leptospirosis case, involving a 37-year-old Sheung Shui man.
He came down with fever, discomfort, bone pain and vomiting on September 29 and was admitted to North District Hospital on October 2. He has recovered and was discharged on October 17.
He had no travel history during the incubation period. Further investigation is ongoing.
Hong Kong saw two imported and one unclassified leptospirosis cases last year. In 2005 there were three imported and four local cases reported. More details about leptospirosis can be found here.
