Bottled tea samples found safe
*
Centre for Food Safety

Centre for Food Safety tests have not found any chloroxylenol - an antiseptic ingredient - in six bottled tea samples it tested days after a nine-year-old boy was admitted to hospital after reportedly drinking bottled tea.

The centre is investigating the case in collaboration with the Police and the Centre for Health Protection.

Six tea samples, different flavours of the same brand the boy was said to have consumed, were taken from the supplier's factory and warehouse for the tests.

Nine other samples were collected from retail outlets on September 13. None of the 15 samples tested contained chloroxylenol.
